Karen Rockwell, a renowned antique doll collector, was known for her leadership in the United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC) and her expertise in the world of French poupées and early all-bisque dolls. A lifelong California resident, she served in various UFDC leadership roles, including president from 2009-2010, and earned numerous accolades for her contributions. Known for her no-nonsense attitude and deep care for others, Karen made people feel seen and valued. Her collection, featured in the “Miss Lily and Friends” auction, showcases her passion for French poupées, particularly those by Leontine Rohmer, as well as dolls from renowned studios like Bru, Simonne, and Lavalle-Peronne. Karen’s love for all-bisque dolls spanned from Parisian mignonettes to Simon and Halbig's early miniature sculpted hair dolls. Notably, her collection includes two Izannah Walker cloth dolls, adding a whimsical touch to her otherwise focused drive. The auction, taking place on Sunday, March 30, presents over 300 rare dolls, including a 21” Kammer and Reinhardt 106 model, a 22” painted eye Marseille doll, and exceptional French bébés by Leon Casimir Bru and Emile Jumeau. Also featured are American dolls like early Volland Raggedy Anns and rare Schoenhut dolls. 8.5" x 11". Softbound. 204 pages.
